A study on color's effect on emotion
00

The Inspiration
When I bought my first camera off my coworker and recieved lights from a friend, I was so excited to begin creating but there was so much to learn and I had so many ideas that it quickly got overstimulating. I ultimately decided it was best to take the childlike approach and start with the something simple yet fundamental, color.
The Story
My first creative series was a self portrait series inspired by the rainbow. It is the perfect model, the rainbow allowed me to section off each shoot based on color and I used the emotions evoked to inspire my posing. Additionally, it was simple enough that I was able to create sets with things around my house like blankets and shower curtains.
Color Theory

Learning color theory sent me down a rabbit hole that I have yet to come out of. I went all in doing deep dives into how color appears in nature versus how it has been historically used in media and movies to influence societies. I learned for example, that red often symbolizes passion and boldness, while pink is soothing to the nervous system. Just like in school, I started with the primary colors and moved to secondary. This project, like most creative endeavors, stretched my creativity and when I ran out of household items that fit the criteria I was forced to try something new. In addition to a beautiful body of work and modeling experience, this series produced my love for painting my own backdrops!
